About Spencer Collins
I will be starting medical school at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in August. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in December 2022 at Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. My clinical experiences include working at Providence Mission Hospital Emergency Department, Falck Ambulance, Lifeline Ambulance, EMS COVID Response Team, ASU EMS, Ironwood Cancer Center, and Red Mountain CardioThoracic Surgeons. I have shadowed a variety of physicians, conducted research, and extensive volunteer experience. I have earned various certifications, such as the Emergency Medical Technician certification, American Heart Association BLS Provider certification, and Provisional Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Furthermore, I was on the Dean\'s List at ASU and received the New American University Scholarship - Dean\'s Award. I have conducted research with the Nicholls Group, Locust Wing Expansion Lab, and Daphnia Pulex Sex Determination Lab. I presented my poster on \"Cognitive proficiency: Comparing NTCB to CAS-2 within an ADHD sample\" at the Arizona Psychological Association annual convention. Along with a publication on Stress Inoculation Therapy in progress. Lastly, I have first authored a 40 page comprehensive review on drugs that modulate cardiovascular toxicity caused by cancer treatments that induce oxidative stress. My chapter is titled “Cardiovascular Toxicity: Incidence, Pathogenesis and Treatment Strategies” in a Springer (Nature) book. I possess skills such as leadership, adaptability, exceptional work ethic, and positive attitude. I am also a beginner in Spanish and an alumni of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. Outside of medicine, I am an avid runner, surfer, magician, rock climber, and love spending time with my friends/family.
