About Michael Spell Spellacy
With over 11 years at Radancy, I serve as the Director of Accessibility, driving the organization’s efforts to prioritize accessibility and foster an inclusive culture. As the first individual in this role, I advocate for users with disabilities, educate both colleagues and clients, and provide strategic direction to global teams. Leveraging in-depth expertise in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and WAI, I aim to ensure accessible and user-friendly digital experiences. My mission is to elevate accessibility as a core value in all initiatives, contributing to a more inclusive digital landscape.
Experience
Director, Accessibility
May 2014 — Present · Allentown, PA, US
I lead enterprise-wide digital accessibility at Radancy, building and scaling accessibility as a core organizational capability—not a checkbox. As the company’s first dedicated accessibility leader, I established the strategy, standards, and operating model that embed accessibility across design, engineering, legal, and client delivery teams. My work centers on culture change: aligning business objectives with inclusive design, reducing risk through proactive compliance, and ensuring accessibility is addressed from the earliest stages of product and project development. I serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, global teams, and clients, translating accessibility requirements into practical, scalable solutions with measurable impact.I own accessibility across RFPs, contracts, and client engagements, and lead audits, remediation initiatives, and advisory work that directly support revenue and long-term partnerships. I collaborate closely with legal teams on digital accessibility compliance and risk mitigation, and manage vendor relationships and accessibility platforms to ensure tools align with organizational needs. In addition to strategy and governance, I remain deeply hands-on. I embed into projects, review UX and design systems, maintain accessible component and pattern libraries, and develop custom tools and scripts that enable teams to deliver accessible experiences by default. I also design and deliver training, onboarding, and education programs that raise accessibility maturity across disciplines.I bring experience with assistive technologies including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and ZoomText, along with manual, functional, and compatibility testing, and accessibility management platforms such as Deque, Level Access. Not to mention a deep understanding of WCAG and mastery of front-end technologies. My approach combines leadership, engineering, and advocacy to build accessibility programs that are durable, scalable, and genuinely inclusive.
