About Sowmya Karun
I\'ve led business strategy+ partnerships for India\'s national public procurement platform and social impact startups in the US and India. I\'ve led consultative sales for data solutions in the development sector, while working closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement tech+data solutions for my clients. I\'ve conducted policy research and analysis across domains, with a special focus on technology policy. In 2019, I was one of only 19 Obama Scholars from around the world selected by the Obama Foundation for a year-long leadership development program and a graduate program scholarship. Across these roles and experiences, the common thread has always been to answer one question: how can the folks working on some of our hardest policy and development challenges- be it governments, nonprofits, philanthropies or researchers- leverage data and tech innovations to do their work better?
