ABOUT SOUVIK KARMAKAR

My name is Souvik Karmakar. After spending almost 10 years in research to gather specialized skills in immunology, immunotherapy and biochemistry, I believe that I am a potential competitor and a lifelong learner in my field. Throughout my career, I have been driven by my intellectual curiosity to solve most critical research problems. Interactions with successful scientists from the industry and academia have taught me the value of sharing ideas and team effort to stand out in this rapidly progressing world. As a doctoral student, I was fortunate to be in a group that is developing vaccine for schistosomiasis. My work will surely serve the community affected by one of the Neglected Tropical Diseases. Those projects were supported by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. Currently as a post-doctoral fellow at National Cancer Institute, my goal is to design and develop immunotherapeutic strategies for Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor. With all those experiences, I am looking forward to work with incredible and devoted people in research to bring efficient therapies to the affected population. The qualities I would really like to pamper for the rest of my life are travelling and trying out cuisines from around the world!
