Designed a custom DDL in Java and integrated a database-native Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) engine into the db compiler engine, enabling petabyte-scale querying of unstructured data (docs, audio, video) across AWS/GCP.• Architected the Java-based DDL subsystem within the database kernel, including SQL parsing, metadata persistence, and storage engine coordination with write-ahead logging and checkpoint-based recovery for atomic, durable operations.• Built a modular microservice architecture for Python UDFs within DB engine, enabling FastAPI based multi-worker orchestration; Redis backed real time monitoring, standardized onboarding via unified API and isolated service modules.• Implemented document-level parallelism with sandboxed workers and per-document retries to boost throughput and resilience; used LLMs to segment documents, embed chunks, and store them in HNSW indexes for fast similarity search.• Reduced latency from 30 s to <1 s by implementing async fire-and-forget FastAPI/asyncio + Redis pipeline, with a bounded queue, worker pool, and semaphore-guarded stages ensuring backpressure, concurrency control, and real-time visibility.• Developed a database-native inference engine using vector similarity search, reranking for semantic precision and segment extraction models, delivering low-latency retrieval under 50 ms at scale while maintaining high contextual relevance.• Developed a novel Ontology View framework that runs row-level LLM prompts on unstructured text or S3 links stored in rows, converting strict JSON outputs into structured SQL columns for direct, in-database querying without external ETL.
