About Sophia Silverman
I am a pre-medical student at UCLA pursuing a B.S. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology with a deep interest in the intersections of neuroscience, geriatrics, and drug discovery. My passion for medicine began early through years of experience in elderly care homes, where I developed a love for supporting others and saw firsthand the importance of compassionate, individualized care.At UCLA, I work in the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Lab, where I focus on understanding mechanisms of neurodegeneration and exploring potential therapeutic strategies. I also volunteer at Cedars-Sinai and have extensive caregiving experience, which has given me a broad perspective on healthcare—spanning both patient care and research.Looking ahead, I am excited to pursue a career in healthcare that combines scientific research, innovation, and patient-centered care.
