ABOUT SOPHIE MURRAY-MORRIS
I’m a product manager specialising in editorial technology and audience development, with 10+ years’ experience at major UK publishers. I currently work as a Product Manager in Editorial Technology at the Financial Times, where I focus on the systems and workflows that underpin their journalism. Previously, I was a Product Manager at The Guardian, leading product development for their email newsletter portfolio and newsroom tools. Before that, I was Head of Product and Audience at Metro (DMG Media), overseeing product and audience strategy across the web and app, CMS and platform partners. Across my roles, I’ve led large cross‑functional teams of designers, engineers, data analysts, editors and commercial stakeholders through the full product lifecycle. Alongside my product career, I’ve worked as a Visiting Lecturer in Journalism and Audience Development at City, University of London, and as a guest lecturer for the University for the Creative Arts and other institutions. My feature writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Mail on Sunday, Refinery29, The Sun, The Independent, the i paper and Metro. I\'m also the co-founder of OphCon, an invite-only conference specialising in newsroom analytics with Ophan at The Guardian, BBC and FT. I’m always happy to talk about editorial product management, newsroom tools, audience growth, and how media organisations can build user‑centred products.
