ABOUT SOPHIE BLACK
I\'ve worked on film and TV projects of all scales, genres and budgets, on location and also within studios. My experience includes collaborations with Stunt Choreographers, Intimacy Coordinators, VFX, and scenes requiring multiple extras. I\'m a multi-award-winning director and writer-director, with credits including the BFI NETWORK-funded \'A Different Place\'(festival selections included VIFF, BFI Flare, Norwich Film Festival, and Flatpack) and \'Night Owls\'(which premiered at LSFF). My latest short film \'Lacuna\' was made through the prestigious NFTS x Prime Video Director\'s Workshop, and will be released this year. My work has a strong visual flare but I also love the nuance and trust that comes from working with actors (as well as enjoying the logistical side of scheduling and planning coverage!). I worked as a Director\'s Shadow on series 2 of BBC\'s \'Boarders\' and \'Sanctuary: A Witch\'s Tale\' for AMC Studios & Sundance Now. I\'m always interested in shadowing, director\'s assistant work, and 2nd unit directing opportunities. I\'m a BAFTA Connect member, associate member of Directors UK, and Cinesisters member. I was a BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew participant from 20••••20 and won the MMBF Rising Star Award in 2017. I founded Triskelle Pictures Ltd, the British film studio with credits including \'Stop/Eject\'(selected for Raindance 2014, long-listed for Best British Short at BAFTA 2015) and \'Good Grief\'(featuring Vicky McClure, which premiered at Slamdance in 2022). Triskelle Pictures proudly became a Prince\'s Trust supported business in 2020. I\'m highly experienced at producing and editing branded content, with a full remote editing set-up, specialising in videos for artists and creative businesses. I previously worked as Head of Post-Production at a video production agency with clients including Interflora, Cisco Systems, and Hotels.com. I also offer white label services to video production companies. I enjoy blogging and occasionally write on commission for film-related publications, with one article showcased by Entertainment Weekly in 2013. My early career was in the art department, with over ten years\' experience in costume design, art direction, and set design for film and theatre, all of which still influences the use of colour and attention to detail in my work today.
