ABOUT SOPHIE RIVELL
I’m a Political Science and Communication student at the University of Pennsylvania focused on strengthening democratic participation through policy, research, and civic engagement.On campus, I’m involved in student governance and academic initiatives through the Undergraduate Assembly and Student Committee on Undergraduate Education, where I work on improving student life, shaping curriculum conversations, and strengthening communication between students and administration. I’m also a SNF Paideia Fellow studying civil discourse and citizenship, and a PORES Fellow analyzing digital political advertising and voter behavior.Building on my high school background in local government and democracy-focused work, I’ve led policy consulting projects through Wharton Undergraduates in Public Policy, including a collaboration with the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office addressing food insecurity across the state.I’m particularly interested in how political communication, data, and public policy intersect to shape who participates in democracy and why.
