One of 35 scholars awarded a Watson fellowship to fund a year-long project in Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, Kenya, Madagascar, Indonesia and Vietnam.Coffee Cultivation, Sustainable Agriculture, and its Communities: My project investigates sustainable coffee production to understand the social and environmental realities of producing coffee. I hope to understand how communities preserve and adapt local agriculture to make it economically viable.

ABOUT SOPHIE DEMAISY

I am passionate about coffee, sustainable agriculture, food production, ecology and conservation. My interdisciplinary background and community involvement has allowed me to develop skills in problem solving, time management, independence and team work. My many leadership positions have participated to improve my resilience, productivity and efficiency as a learner and worker. I am keen on taking risks and challenging myself to enhance my education and goal achievement. I graduated in May 2024 from Connecticut College with two B.A.\'s in Economics, and Botany with a sustainable agriculture concentration, and I am a Pearson College UWC alumna.
