About Sophia van Valkenburg
Sophia van Valkenburg is an NYC-based software engineer, artist, and writer. With a background in computer science and illustration, she is passionate about bringing together her multi-disciplinary skills to craft beautiful, well-designed web applications.She was previously a senior software developer at CBRE Build, where she worked on Plans Pro, a 2D floorplan editor for commercial real estate. Before that, she was a full-stack software engineer at The New York Times where she was the lead developer and maintainer of a backend API that services millions of requests per day. Her Masters project developed a novel method for finding fake reviews in Amazon products. As a result of outstanding academic achievement, she received the 2013 College Prize for Excellence in Computer Science.
