About Sophia Couto
Hello! I am a recent graduate from Northeastern University, where I obtained my Master of Science in Environmental Science & Policy and my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, with a minor in Biology.While attending Northeastern University, I gained experience working and learning in various capacities via my co-op opportunities. I am interested in climate change research and adaptation, advancing the renewable energy transition, and conserving natural resources. In my professional career, I have experience evaluating transportation infrastructure projects based on state and federal environmental regulations, which I gained during my duration at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Furthermore, I am a seasoned beekeeper and former employee of the Best Bees Company, where I serviced honeybee colonies across New England for commercial and residential clients. I currently work for the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority as a Sampling Associate in the Toxic Reduction and Control (TRAC) department. I am responsible for obtaining water samples from discharge locations in the greater Boston area. I adhere to department SOPs to ensure accurate collection, preservation, and analysis of samples from industrial and municipal sources.
