About Sophia Fatima

Raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, I witnessed firsthand the detrimental effects of air and water pollution. This ignited my passion for environmental preservation and its intersections with human health. Through my previous work and volunteering efforts, I actively engaged in political activism and interned for an organization working on community-based environmental health programs. These experiences have provided me with valuable insights into the power of collective action and the importance of raising awareness about environmental issues. My ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact in the field of environmental science. I am particularly drawn to coastal ecology, conservation genetics, and microbiology, and their applications for understanding and mitigating the effects of environmental degradation. However, I believe that besides environmental research, it is also essential to engage and collaborate with community members and stakeholders to create meaningful change.
