About Sonya M. Thompson
I am truly an educator and life-long learner at heart. I’ve taught in the public school classroom for nine years and counting. Over the years, I have grown and learned so much about myself as well as my profession. My passion is helping students identify and achieve his/her goals by sharing with them the knowledge and resources I\'ve acquired along the way. My goal is to utilize school data to drive an effective school counseling program to assist students with social/emotional, academic, and career needs. I plan to help students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills, and plan for post-secondary options (higher education, military, workforce).These goals will be achieved by individual academic planning and goal setting, classroom lessons, short-term counseling, referrals for long-term counseling, collaborating with others for students’ success and advocating for students.
