About Sonya Harrison

I am a recent graduate of Colorado College, where I completed a BA in Political Science and Feminist and Gender Studies and graduated with distinction and latin honors. My leadership roles at Colorado College included being the co-president of the Political Science Advisory Committee (PSAC), a student-led organization that organizes events and opportunities for students in the Political Science department. I also co-led a research project studying re-democratization and illiberalism in Central European countries, especially Hungary, and how they affect LGBTQIA+ activists and communities. As a co-president of PSAC, I worked with my fellow students and faculty to provide increased opportunities for experiential learning outside of the classroom, as well as access to all Political Science faculty and staff. In addition, I have been involved in several student-faculty research projects, such as a grant-funded study on the 2022 Hungarian parliamentary elections and referendum, and an analysis of women in government through the Colorado State Legislature. Through these projects, I have developed skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis, and academic writing. I am passionate about applying my knowledge and skills to promote social justice and human rights, and I hope to contribute to my work with diverse perspectives and experiences.
