ABOUT SONYA AITKEN

I am a passionate strategic marketer who believes in the power of brands and innovative customer experiences to deliver results for a business.What drives me is opportunity and challenge. The opportunity to go into a business and make a difference that ensures their success and the challenge that this obviously creates.I feel a great sense of satisfaction when I see the delight on a customer’s face from their interaction with a brand, the business results ticking over from well executed marketing & sales activity and my team achieving more than what they thought they were capable of.At Fisher & Paykel Appliances I led the New Zealand Marketing team focused on delivering activity across Kitchen and Laundry whiteware appliances through over 350 retail outlets across New Zealand. As New Zealand Marketing Manager I was responsible for the; development and delivery of the one and five year strategic marketing plans that supported the New Zealand business to achieve its targets, evolution of the brand to a premium space and an active member of the Global Brand Council. For over 80 years Fisher & Paykel has been designing and manufacturing appliances for your home. Today they employ over people, export to over 50 countries around the world and are a key business of Haier, the world’s largest appliance manufacturer. A strong product and services marketer I have worked in Financial Services, Telecommunications, Market Research, Airlines, Agri-business and Appliances. My career has seen me work in New Zealand and the UK and for a variety of Blue Chip multi-national organisations. My tertiary education is from the University of Otago having graduated with an MBA, thesis in ecommerce, Bachelor Of Commerce – major Marketing Management and Bachelor of Arts – major in Psychology.
