   WASHINGTON SQUARE HOTELThe Washington Square Hotel was established in 1902 as a grand apartment hotel as the Hotel Earle. The excitement of New York’s Greenwich Village attracted many visitors from around the world including artists, actors and musicians. Ernest Hemingway, P.G. Wodehouse, Dylan Thomas, the Rolling Stones, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Bo Didley, Chuck Berry, the B52s and Dexter Gordon are among the celebrities who’ve made the hotel their home away from home.In 1973, the Paul family purchased the hotel and began the process of upgrading the property into a boutique hotel. They renamed the hotel in 1986, to reflect the proximity of the historic Washington Square, and the importance of the surrounding, landmark neighborhood. In 1992, Judy Paul opened North Square Restaurant, a first class New York bistro at the hotel.Today, the Washington Square Hotel remains in step with its unique neighborhood, with all its charm, sophistication and individuality.
