About A. Sonny Abbasi
Seasoned Mortgage and Technology lawyer that has served as General Counsel and Lawyer 1 and has built and led multiple legal departments from the ground up. I have served as the first General Counsel for multiple companies, including Maxwell, a financial technology company that supports mortgage lenders with software, services, and capital markets solutions and Lenderworks, a mortgage back office service provider. Uniquely experienced mortgage attorney that has been in house counsel at Fannie Mae, Federal Housing Administration, and Freddie Mac. Accordingly, my expertise spans all aspects of the mortgage life cycle, from origination to securitization to servicing to loss mitigation. I have successfully handled regulatory, litigation, operational, and legislative issues, as well as complex mortgage transactions. I have also been involved in multiple FinTech ventures, both as General Counsel and as an early stage investor, such as FundingShield, a risk and fraud prevention company.
