About Sonja Engelstad
An ambitious leader with a lived and learned global perspective after living, working, or traveling in 20+ countries, I am currently a Master’s Social Work student at UT Austin, passionate about providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health care. With a foundation in direct clinical work, case management, group facilitation, and nonprofit leadership, I bring empathy and collaboration to every space I enter, on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Currently, I am seeking opportunities to continue growing as a clinician and a policy advocate and to get involved in volunteer work that supports the socioemotional development of underserved youth and the mental health recovery journeys of adults in Central Texas.In my free time, you can find me climbing, Olympic weightlifting, or sipping on rare tea.
