ABOUT SONIYA KANGJAM
I have worked in the policy and political consulting sector for over 2.5 years. In the past, I have worked with the Government of India in delivering, assessing, and designing policy programmes and initiatives in the skill development and education sectors. During this, I have had the opportunity to serve in various capacities, from leading and managing state-level programmes to working in customer-facing roles, directly interfacing citizens in service delivery. My roles in policy implementation and design involved engaging diverse stakeholders to foster shared ownership in formulating skill development policies and programmes. In addition, I have worked in the political consulting sector, where I contributed to strategizing and managing the 2024 Indian parliamentary election campaigns. These experiences have shaped and enriched my understanding of the many policy challenges we face. My broad research interest lies in state capacity building and strengthening public institutions. As I currently pursue my MPP at Cambridge, I am also exploring new sectors within public policy, including food security, climate policy, and AI policy.Coming from a science background, I have recently developed a particular interest in exploring the intersection of science and policy. I’m keen to exchange ideas and would love to hear your insights if you are working in this field.
