ABOUT SONILA P
I am a student who has an academic background in Law, Business and Criminology. I have an interest in the role of an international lawyer who focuses on working in diplomacy. I am someone who is fascinated by human rights and how it should be protected, and how there must be a peaceful and non-biased solution to both sides, especially in global issues. My main goal for the future is to be able to be in places where conflict is met with negotiation, and that this way the law is both protected and not divided. I aspire to work in the United Nations and to be able to have a say in what is equal and fair. I want to be able to stand alongside change.During my free time alongside my studies, I enjoy getting involved in projects where I am able to have a say, such as working with BVL, a social mobility charity that has been a big piece of my development in law and gaining new experiences. With BVL, I have had the privilege of being a part of the Model Law Commission alongside my peers, and I was able to draft a law reform proposal which was then presented in front of Members of Parliament at Portcullis House, Westminster. In addition, I was also selected to be a part of the Mooting Competition as a finalist, where I developed public speaking as well as reasoning at the highest level. Both experiences immensely improved my legal skills as well as my confidence in being able to connect with people from all backgrounds.I have also been fortunate enough to have been selected by Ashurst to be a part of their Law Access Programme, where I completed a 7-month long programme which improved my knowledge in commercial awareness and gave me a better understanding of how the application, interview, as well as assessment preparation, is like at Ashurst. Alongside law, I have a strong passion for languages and global understanding. I speak Albanian and English fluently and have an understanding of German, having previously lived and studied there, as well as having knowledge in Arabic, Spanish and Turkish. Such skills will ensure that I am supported in an international setting.I look forward to sharing more of my legal journey and the change I am willing to make for the future, and I would like to connect with individuals who are willing to go above and beyond to work towards their goals and build strong connections!
