About Sonia Succar Ferré

Sonia has over 20 years of experience in sustainable development and environmental innovation. At Goodwill Industries International, she\'s advancing the Goodwill Clean Tech Accelerator, a national skilled trades and energy infrastructure training academy that provides the specialized hands-on traning needed to access growing career opportunities in the energy transition. The academy is currently active in 8 cities with 450 graduates, aiming for 30 cities and over job seekers by 2030.As a LEED AP, she started her career as a Senior Field Engineer on the Miami Intermodal Center, a transformative multimodal project that now connects seven transportation systems to the region. She has collaborated with local governments in Florida and Virginia on sustainability initiatives, including mobility planning, tree canopy restoration, solar energy projects and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Sonia designed and launched a $10 million clean water prize with The Everglades Foundation, attracting 140 teams from 11 countries to tackle phosphorus pollution. She led The Nature Conservancy\'s Cities Program in Florida, working with 26 cities on nature-based solutions amid rapid urbanization. Her recent work with The Atlantic Council focused on community disaster recovery where she deployed Florida\'s first mobile Resilience Pod during the COVID-19 pandemic, shifting to the development of Resilience Hubs after securing a $1.2M U.S. HUD grant. Recognized by the Mayor of Miami as a “Woman Inspiring Innovation,” she chaired the Miami Forever Bond Citizens Oversight Committee advising the City Commission and staff on the $400M for capital projects. She serves on the advisory council for the Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership at the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs at Florida International University, and on the board of Far Away Projects. Sonia is also the President of Futura Climate Strategies, a consulting agency founded in 2019. holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from Rollins College and a Master’s in Environmental Management from Harvard University\'s Division of Continuing Education. Her master\'s thesis focused on wireless electric vehicle technology for public transit systems.
