ABOUT SONIA M.
Urban manager specialized in sustainable mobility and gender. I have focused my professional career in advocating for safer and more inclusive transport systems. Formerly I worked at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) México office as the Active Mobility and the Cycling Cities Strategy Coordinator managing some projects related to cycling, pedestrian mobility, and urban design considering the gender perspective. In 2018 I was able to take the Planning the Cycling City Summer School at the University of Amsterdam and in 2020 I was part of the Urban Leaders of Women in Motion taking the course Mobility and Gender in Latin America. Currently I am researcher at the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative where I am managing the project E-MOVILIZA and supporting the transition toward low-carbon electric mobility in Ecuador. I am really passionate about promoting sustainable mobility and advocating for just transport systems.
