ABOUT SONAL PATEL OLIVA

Legal Director in the Brand Development team - Advertising, Consumer Protection & Commercial law. Advises a number of international brands and public sector clients in various sectors on brand promotion, the protection and commercial exploitation of IP and how to develop their businesses.I have a particular expertise in advising clients on a wide range of commercial agreements and advertising and marketing matters including, copy clearance, claim substantiation, ASA complaints and appeals, promotional activity, commercial and non-commercial exploitation of brands, licensing, domestic and multi-jurisdictional sales and prize promotions, social media and influencer activity, loyalty programmes and customer incentives, consumer protection, advertising/marketing agency contracts and structuring and negotiating brand extension and merchandising arrangements.I also advise clients on developing their businesses and related commercial issues through multi-channel routes to market, such as franchising, licensing, joint ventures, e-commerce, agency and distribution.I have gained invaluable commercial experience through secondments to the in-house commercial teams at BP, British Gas, ebookers.com and MTV Europe.I have been named as an associate to watch in the legal directory, Chambers & Partners since 2010 for Advertising & Marketing and also have individual mentions in Legal 500.My professional memberships include the US Brand Activation Association and I am also a contributor of advertising & marketing content for the new Lexis Nexis PSL online service.
