ABOUT SOLIANA LIJIAM
Hello! My name is Soliana, and I am an MD Candidate at the University of Toronto, St. George. I enjoy conducting research and community health projects which further health equity and advocate for improved health policies. I contributed to health equity-based research projects for the Department of Adolescent Medicine at SickKids, The Institute for Better Health at Trillium Health Partners, and the Novo Nordisk Network for Healthy Populations. Further, I have collaborated with organizations like Our Kids’ Health and the Canadian Medical Association’s Healthcare for Real initiative to address health misinformation through the design and delivery of evidence-based digital resources. Currently, I work for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine as a Program Development Assistant in which I organize educational events and immersive opportunities for high school students from racialized and underserved backgrounds to learn more about the health sciences. I am a co-founder of the UofT Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Colour (BIPOC) HealthHub (bipochealthhub.com); a website and community geared towards sharing resources and information with Black and Indigenous youth on medicine and pursuing careers in health care.
