Dr. Borjian is the founder of Canosult (ka-NOH-sult), an early-stage software development firm focused on developing and implementing advanced decision-support technologies for flood risk management, drainage design, and water resources planning.With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Borjian has consistently delivered high-impact results for public and private sector clients. His work has supported major agencies and organizations including FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Texas General Land Office, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, The Nature Conservancy, and the City of Philadelphia.He has supported nationally significant initiatives such as FEMA’s Risk MAP program, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Connecticut River Flow Restoration Study as part of the Sustainable Rivers Program, the Texas General Land Office’s Combined River Basin Flood Studies, the Louisiana Watershed Initiative, and Philadelphia’s Green City, Clean Waters Program. Dr. Borjian earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering – Water Resources from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he developed innovative methodologies leveraging optimization and Deep Learning to improve watershed management addressing flood control and other competing objectives.
