This role included further leadership responsibility and detailed CAD design of major subsystems of complex medical devices using Solidworks and OnShape. Key projects include an Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing Instrument and a Microfluidics Imaging Instrument. Key highlights include: • Detailed design and DFM reviews of Injection Moulded Plastics Parts • Design ownership of linkage mechanisms using MATLAB simulations and Solidworks • Design ownership of vacuum subsystems and custom vacuum manifolds • Design of proof of principle testing rigs and various other prototypes. Prototypes included programming of Arduinos for DC motor and Servo motor testing. • Client Consultation – Weekly reporting of build progress to our US client and recurring design reviews. • Creation and Management of a Bill of Materials for a device with 500+ components Leadership Role: • Build Manager – Responsible for the co-ordination of the mechanical build and configuration management for 25 Medical Device prototypes. The role involves management of four build technicians and engineers. • Procurement and Bill of Materials Manager – I have created a combined Bill of Materials and Order Control tracker for a complex medical device which includes 500+ components
