ABOUT SOHA KNEEN

Experienced in evidence-based research, writing, analysis, project/file management, fundraising, education, as well as in providing policy and strategic planning advice to management, senior management and Boards of Directors. My work has involved the assessing and strengthening of organizational capacity, the mentoring and supervision of staff and junior researchers and the supervision of consultants. I have further covered a wide range of research and advocacy modalities, from advising on peer-reviewed research, to coalition building with specialist organizations, to policy analysis and development. Further areas of experience include the consultation with decision-makers and policy actors to identify research needs on a file specific basis, the developing and sustaining of relationships with federal government departments. My work has also included the conducting of national consultation processes and the coordination/management of large-scale projects, which included the identification of relevant and important research issues in the field of natural resource governance as well as health issues. I also have extensive experience in office administration, public speaking, editing and publishing newsletters and articles, media outreach and media relations, volunteer coordination, research, policy development, and policy analysis. My knowledge of government decision-making structures and the Canadian political system (including the review of proposed federal policy and legislation as it relates to Indigenous organizations) is extensive. OCAP certified.
