ABOUT SOFI NOWELL

Programme Manager for Residencies at Britten Pears Arts in Suffolk (currently on maternity leave). Through the Residencies programme I primarily support the creation of new music and multidisciplinary projects while facilitating creative and development opportunities for artists. I joined Britten Pears Arts in 2021 and brought with me 16 years of experience encompassing all elements of artist management such as developing new work, touring, booking, programming, event promotion, record labels, publishing and rights, mentoring, marketing, partnerships, and funding.In 2021, I completed an MA in Arts Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, which piqued my interest in inclusivity and accessibility in the arts. I am proud to have worked with theatre companies including Taking Flight, Hijinx and Victor Esses as a live captioner for digital performances. I have sat on shortlisting panels for Saffron Records, Cheltenham Festival x Jerwood Jazz Encounters, Sounding Change (University of Birmingham), and Black Acre’s Pathways (a Youth Music funded programme for 18-25s).Beginning my professional career as a young person in the Bristol DIY music scene, I am particularly interested in intersectionality, non-traditional routes into the arts, and making space for people to experiment and learn.
