WORK HISTORY
Data Scientist @EMBL
Roma, IT
My primary role is to support neuroscientists by developing and implementing data analysis solutions and pipelines tailored to their projects. I have been working on the following areas:1. Developing and maintaining a Nextflow pipeline specifically designed for 1-photon calcium recordings which automatically preprocess the input videos by performing scaling, black frames removal, background subtraction and motion correction (https://git.embl.org/torchia/calcium_imaging_pipeline_with_nextflow)2. Designed a statistical test based on bootstrapping to detect statistically significant changes in fluorescence time series to assess correlation with binary time series3. Exploring state-of-the-art contrastive learning-based dimensionality reduction techniques as well as generalized linear models to assess correlation between neural data and behavioral features4. Simple analysis of mice interactions to characterize the dynamics of territorial and hierarchical behaviors in a semi-natural environment using PCA (paper: profile: https://git.embl.org/users/torchia/projectsGithub profile: https://github.com/SofiaTorchiaGross Group Gitlab: https://git.embl.de/grp-grossGross Group webpage:
