My job is herding cats, and making things happen (while at least trying to have a some fun)!I am an experienced software engineer and technical leader, having worked for a number of years in the software industry managing a variety of projects and adapting to tech stacks as required. I have extensive expertise in various tech stacks and implementing them to solve various challenges. I believe in high quality engineering, applying SOLID principles and using design patterns as applicable. I believe in building simple, pragmatic solutions over convoluted. My speciality is in C#(both.NET.NET Core), Javascript (React), naughty bit of Typscript, and SQL (T-SQL, Postgres) of which I have extensive experience in building high performance applications. Although I am always happy to get my hands dirty doing any technology at all.In the last few years I have worked on projects ranging from web apps for AI technology, big data and backend applications for a payment system, which has been a fascinating journey through different technologies and problems. For me it is important to have a vision for the future of a software product, and to champion and lead a team towards this goal. I take a keen interest in mentoring and growing teams. For me it is extremely important a team is a safe space for learning and being allowed to fail because they know there\'s a team to back them up and help them out. Trust is paramount to a strong team. Mentoring is not about giving answers, but giving the tools to find answers. In my free time, I occupy myself by existing mostly as many do - feeding my garden squirrels, birds, my pet rabbit and enjoying life. I also write my blog on Software Engineering and Philosophy, as well as running several social MeetUp groups. I love meeting new people, and creating happy and positive communities.
