This role is a promotion from my last within the company. As well as looking after the young people, I also look after the team. With training, I conduct supervisions where I can upskill the team or encourage where needed. I work closely with the home manager and deputy home manager to ensure tasks are done to the standard they need to be, while also looking after the condition and operation of the home. Most importantly, ensuring our young people are cared for and can make memories within Essential. The change in role has also brought along a Level 4 apprenticeship in Children, young people and families practitioners.

As a Mental Health Therapeutic Care Practitioner, I am focused on supporting young people through challenging experiences. Balancing my work with my ongoing studies at the Open University allows me to apply insights from psychology directly into practice, enhancing the quality of care and support I provide. Prior to entering the Mental Health field, I worked in sales, where I developed strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and a deep understanding of human behaviour—foundations that continue to inform my approach to therapeutic work. My ability to build rapport, understand diverse needs, and communicate effectively across different contexts has been a consistent asset throughout my career.
