ABOUT SOFIA GALVAN RODRIGUEZ
Hello! My name is Sofia Galvan Rodriguez, and I\'m a senior pursuing the International Baccalaureate Career Program at Lamar High School! I plan to pursue higher education majoring in Piano Performance to become a K-12 music educator.Music has been a wonderful part of my life. I have been studying piano for 13 years, first starting at Dodson Montessori with my preschool music teacher. I also joined the Turning Hearts Music Ensemble (THME) at the age of 5 and have been an active member/performer to the present day. Relating to this music ensemble, I have attended and now student taught for the Turning Hearts Summer Enrichment Music Camp during July starting in 2013. Whether it be playing xylophones in the THME or learning a new song on the piano, music has always drawn my interest. I also work at the Children Today Daycare at Lamar High School, primarily in the preschool (2-5 y/o) age range as part of the Child Development course I enrolled in. Combined with my love for music, I plan to use the knowledge learned here to become a preschool and/or elementary music instructor!
