About Sofia Carucci
Hello! My name is Sofia Carucci, and I’m a third-year civil engineering student at Drexel University, pursuing a minor in Environmental Public Health. I am part of Drexel’s 5-year, 3-co-op program, which has allowed me to gain hands-on industry experience early in my academic career.I’m passionate about creating a more sustainable and resilient built environment. My interests lie in the design and analysis side of civil engineering, particularly where infrastructure, public health, and environmental stewardship intersect.For my first co-op, I worked with the Philadelphia Water Department in the Design Unit as a Water and Sewer Designer. In this role, I supported plan preparation by correcting redlines—adjusting scales, grading, utility alignments, and more. I also had the opportunity to redesign an entire sewer segment, which strengthened my technical skills and reinforced my interest in infrastructure design.I’m excited to continue growing as an engineer and contributing to projects that improve communities and support sustainable development.
