About Sofia Camilo

I am a sophomore at Amherst College pursuing a double major in Spanish and LJST, with a prospective certification in International Relations. My academic work centers on language, power, and public institutions, and I maintain a 4.0 major GPA alongside a strong cumulative record. Through internships and campus leadership, I have developed a deep interest in public service, legal systems, and community-based work. I have supported administrative operations at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, gaining experience in high-volume, detail-oriented environments, and have worked as a counselor with Fieldston Future Leaders, leading educational and recreational programming for young children. At Amherst, I am a varsity volleyball player and DEI representative, balancing the demands of a highly competitive athletic program with leadership roles focused on fostering inclusive and supportive team culture. I am also involved in the Black Pre-Law Society and La Causa, where I engage with issues of equity, representation, and advocacy. Fluent in Spanish, I have participated in multilingual volunteer and exchange programs and founded a Spanish immersion club at Fieldston School to promote cultural and linguistic engagement. My work has been published in Inklings, Fieldston’s academic journal.I am particularly interested in criminal justice, public interest law, and international or community-focused work that combines advocacy, language, and service.
