ABOUT NIKHIL SACHIDANANDAN

The air we breathe in our cities shouldn\'t be an afterthought. I\'m a Mechanical Engineer, but if I\'m being honest, I\'ve become a bit obsessed with a question that keeps me up at night: How do we build systems that actually work for people without wrecking the planet in the process? My journey started where most engineers begin- deep in the technical weeds. SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AVEVA PDMS. I spent years learning to design machines with precision. But somewhere along the way, I stopped seeing just \"the machine\" and started seeing the bigger picture: the city, the air, the people breathing it all in. That shift changed everything for me.These days, I\'m fascinated by what happens when mechanical design meets urban science. How does smart ventilation actually shape a neighborhood\'s health? What does it really mean for a building to \"breathe\" well? I started looking at engineering problems through a geographical lens- thanks to some eye-opening work with ISRO and IIRS- and suddenly, remote sensing data wasn\'t just data anymore. It was a way to connect a single HVAC system to the health of an entire community. Whether I\'m running fluid simulations in ANSYS or optimizing systems in Navisworks, my north star hasn\'t changed: our indoor spaces should be as healthy as the outdoor environments we\'re fighting to protect.Right now? I\'m deep in the weeds of CleanTech, trying to figure out how smart design can tackle indoor air quality and urban heat. It\'s messy, complicated work- and I love it. If you\'re an engineer, urban planner, or just someone who cares about how our cities breathe, I\'d love to connect. Let\'s figure some of this out together. 🤝#MechanicalEngineering #UrbanSciences #Sustainability #CleanTech #IndoorAirQuality
