About Snapdragon Inn
Like its namesake, Snapdragon Inn is rich in color and character. Tucked into the Upper Valley of Vermont, this historic property welcomes visitors into richly painted common rooms and cozy, hardwood-floored guest rooms, showcasing luxurious bathrooms with heated floors. The inn itself was built in 1815, and it’s been transformed from the private home of publisher Maxwell Perkins (protégé of Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald, to name two notable writers) into a warm year-round bed-and-breakfast. You can enjoy the oversized armchairs in its sitting room, where Hemingway spent nights socializing with Perkins; the fresh morning waffles in its dining room; or the chairs on the porch, where you can bird watch or simply relax. It\'s also easy to appreciate the world beyond the property\'s limits, and nature and culture enthusiasts will especially enjoy this peaceful retreat. Snapdragon is tucked into the Upper Valley of Vermont, right across the river from New Hampshire, and is within a few minutes in every direction from the most spectacular Vermont has to offer. You can stroll, hike or snowshoe through Paradise Park, the reserve adjacent to the inn, or fish in the lake when it\'s warm and watch the ice fishermen when cold. You can also sample a meal made from local produce at one of the many quaint restaurants nearby, watch the Simon Pearce glass blowers at work, or take a short drive to nearby Woodstock or the Ivy League-college town of Hanover.
