ABOUT SNAHEL PATEL

Successfully built and led teams that discovered clinical molecules and development candidates across all major therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular (TN-301), immunology (GDC-8264/RG-6287), neurology (GDC-0134), and oncology (FMC-376, FMC-220 and FMC-242). Consistently foster a culture of teaching and mentoring to nurture a world-class team of drug discoverers dedicated to creating high-quality, small-molecule therapeutics with optimal target and drug attributes for clinical success!Previous experiences include Frontier Medicines, Tenaya Therapeutics (IPO July 2021) and ~10 years stretches at both Genentech and Pfizer.Frontier Medicines established a high-quality Medicinal Chemistry group comprising up to 12 PhD/postdoctoral-level scientists supporting internal and collaborator pipelines. Furthermore, oversaw >150 external FTEs who contributed to the Research and CMC pipelines. Additionally, during tenure, led cross-functional departments. Dual Project Team Leader and Chemistry Team Leader, delivering clinical compound FMC-376 (co-inventor) and co-inventor of Development Candidate FMC-220. At Tenaya Therapeutics built the foundations of a high-quality small molecule infrastructure from the ground up and additionally led the discipline of ADME and PK. Dual Project Team Leader and Chemistry Team Leader, delivering clinical molecule TN-301 (co-inventor),At Genentech inventor/co-inventor of three clinical molecules including GDC-0134 for ALS (Phase I) and GDC-8264 (RG6287) currently in Phase II trials for inflammatory diseases. Chemistry Team Leader for two of the development candidate nominations in the therapeutic areas of inflammation and/or neurology. Assisted with evaluating external business development opportunities for Genentech’s target portfolio pipeline and advised on other team’s therapeutic projects in areas of hit-to-lead and lead optimization. Finally, was a departmental lead for scouting, vetting, innovating, implementing and managing technologies to help sustain a competitive edge in small molecule drug discovery. After 4 years at Pfizer’s Sandwich site in the UK I transferred to the US to be part of the team that set up the first Pfizer medicinal chemistry lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts and subsequently delivered many lead compounds for the organization across different therapeutic areas. Also served as site lead member on chemistry global technology teams ranging from synthetic to medicinal chemistry related informatic technologies.
