About Stephen Schlacter

After 25 years supporting the Military Health System with Leidos (SAIC), Steve is thrilled to have accepted a new role with Booz Allen and the VA EHRM-IO.Fresh out of college, he joined SAIC in December of 1995 as a Junior Deployment Engineer supporting the world-wide deployment of the Composite Health Care System (CHCS). He cut his teeth on TCP/IP installing network equipment at Luke AFB (transitioning to MHS Genesis in the next Wave, so he’s not old at all.), learned appreciation for big iron DEC VAX and Alpha clusters, gained valuable experience in hospital facilities infrastructure supporting the roll out of an IBM digital imaging network and picture archival communication system (DIN-PACS) to the Great Plains Regional Medical Command, and got an early start with virtualization helping his MHS customer evaluate, deploy and migrate legacy applications to early blade computing platforms. Steve takes pride in the perspective he gained while an MHS “Road Warrior” traveling to the far corners of the world, and many corners of our great USA. Time spent with boots on the ground in hospital labs, operating suites and computer rooms remain a solid foundation for delivering solutions that support the Federal Health mission. When last we spoke, Steve was supporting the MHS GENSIS Program, as well as working on several efforts to modernize and consolidate computing facilities. He fosters collaboration among historically separate teams of experts and enjoys taking on complex projects that require relationship building across multiple organizations.
