ABOUT MOHAMMED AZHARUDDIN SHAMSHUDDIN
Hardware Architect, R&D for Medium Voltage Converters at Innomotics GmbH Orcid: A doctoral candidate at Technische Üniversität München. I am researching on mitigation of the frequency coupling effect and beat frequencies due to nearest level control (NLC) in the family of AC/AC modular multilevel cascade converters (MMCC), mainly, modular multilevel converter (MMC)(3ph./1ph.) and modular multilevel matrix converter (M3C)(3ph./3ph.), these were used in a modular solid state transformer for MVAC/LVDC power distribution network. Born in India. Completed my Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2011. I enjoyed control systems, high voltage, and power electronics during my Bachelor\'s degree. Took part in personality development courses and was actively involved in organizing cultural and technical events. I received my Master\'s degree in Power Electronics and Drives in 2013. I enjoyed researching Solar PV systems and MPPT algorithms. Some of the classical MPP algorithms to optimization-based algorithms such as particle swarm optimization. The control platform was using Arduino and dSPACE ds1104 controller board. Our team was awarded a University SEED grant for a project on the integration of Solar PV, battery, and fuel cells in an autonomous microgrid focused on electrifying villages and remote locations. The project won second place in Young Innovators award by M/s Danfoss, India. I worked as a research intern at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development, was involved in the design of a 20kWp grid-connected Solar PV system and further, and worked as a solar design engineer at Soch Solar Systems LLP. My areas of interests are Power Electronics and Electric Drive Systems, Renewable Energy Resources, Power Converters, modular multilevel converters and medium frequency transformers.
