ABOUT ALEXA SMITH

As a 3rd-year Bachelor of Architecture student at the University of Arkansas, I am passionate about sustainable and human-centered design, with a minor in Interior Architecture complementing my studies. My interests span across commercial design, digital modeling and rendering, physical modeling, and interior architecture — all of which shape my evolving perspective as a designer. Originally from Overland Park, Kansas, I’m excited to be starting my first architectural internship this summer at Hoefer Welker in Kansas City, where I hope to build on my academic foundation through real-world experience. One of my most fulfilling projects to date was a sustainable housing proposal for Los Angeles, designed with a partner during Fall 2024, where we explored innovative housing solutions tailored to urban contexts and environmental resilience. In Fall 2026, I will be studying abroad in Rome, further expanding my understanding of global architecture, historical context, and contemporary design challenges. I’m always looking to explore how architecture can intersect with sustainability, technology, and the built environment in meaningful ways. My goal is to continue developing as a designer who brings thoughtful collaboration, digital expertise, and a passion for innovation to every project.
