About Caitlin Smithers

I am a Portland native and University of Oregon alumni currently working as the Sr. Organic Operations Manager at Archer Education! I graduated from the University of Oregon with two degrees. One in Planning, Public Policy and Management and the other in General Social Science with a focus in Environmental Policy. I started my career in the non-profit space and that is where I first found my love for project management. I took a project management certification course through Portland State University and from there moved into my first project coordinator position. I originally started off working in events and through that experience began to really enjoy my work with marketing. I soon discovered content operations as a career path and quickly knew that was the space I wanted to grow into. I originally started as a freelance Content Coordinator with Circa Interactive in the fall of 2020 and officially began my position as a full time Content Operations Manager in April of 2021. I love the blend of content operations and project management that this role provides and I am excited to see how my skills continue to grow in the field. I have now been promoted to Sr. Organic Operations Manager where my scope has expanded to support the Content and SEO/Inbound Marketing teams in project management, operations management, pricing structure, budget management, client education and team expansion strategy.

   As the Sr. Organic Operations Manager I have expanded my reach from a single team to managing the operations of two teams and increasing my involvement in larger centralized operations projects. I oversee the operational aspects of Archer’s content and SEO production pipelines, including process development, production scheduling, reporting, resource management, and other key responsibilities. I lead efforts to improve efficiency, communication, and standardization, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the long-term strategic growth of our content and SEO operations. Additionally, I support in areas including scoping and pricing content and SEO deliverables; tracking team budgets; educating clients about content strategy; adopting new technologies; and helping the team expand into other areas of the organization.Additionally, at the organization level, I collaborate with team leads throughout the business to diagnose issues, develop improvement ideas, and manage a portion of the business process improvement roadmap. I spearhead 2-3 initiatives per year aimed at enhancing processes and practices across various departments. Lastly, being in a senior position, I provide mentorship and support to other operations and project positions throughout the organization.
