About Jaap Slothouwer
Jaap Slothouwer is the Executive Director for the Americas at the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), based in Washington, D.C. Heading our network of offices and team of FDI experts, he leads all efforts in supporting and advising North and South American companies in all phases of establishing, rolling out and/or expanding their international operations in the Netherlands. Having 25 plus years of experience in the private and public sector, Jaap has both an executive business and an advisory consulting background. Since setting up the NFIA office in Toronto in 2018, he has used those skills to work with teams to exponentially grow the footprint of successful businesses in the Netherlands. As a result-focused senior business leader Jaap has developed & structured business attraction & retention and operational strategies for key industry players. Intrinsically driven by curiosity, human interaction and courage, he has worked in more than 8 countries outside the Netherlands and lived in many more. Jaap also actively promotes learning and has a faculty background, actively communicates with people at all levels and across cultural barriers. He enjoys building high-performance teams and connects stakeholders. With strong analytical skills he promotes following a pragmatic approach. This includes strategic project portfolio & account management, coaching and mentoring.
