About Sloan Roberts

Prior to joining Lam, I was a postdoc in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University/SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. My background is heavy in surface chemistry, with a focus on designing and understanding surfaces/deposited clusters that are catalytically active. Using the X-ray facilities at SLAC, I am experienced with many different surface anlysis techniques (emission/absorption spectroscopies, thermal desorption, ion scattering, mass spectrometry), as well as electrochemistry/electrocatalysis. I joined Lam in June, 2016, in dielectric etch C&F. I\'ve worked exculsively on memory projects, with the majority of the work discovering new process regimes for the OPOP pillar etch. My work both in my PhD/postdoc, and here at Lam, has exposed me to the detail workings of the hardware, as well as process development.My PhD and postdoctoral work focused on heterogeneous catalysis, using surface analysis techniques to understand the surface chemical reactions on a fundamental level. Through my work I learned how to design hardware to test our chemical hypotheses, solve problems, and think critically.
