McDanold received her MLS degree from Indiana University, Bloomington (IUB). Shana L. McDanold is currently Assistant Manager for Cataloging for the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL). Prior to DCPL, she worked at several large research university libraries. In addition to be a certified trainer for the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) for monographic materials, serials, and name authority work, she has worked on several American Library Association (ALA) committees for the Association of Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Division, served on several NASIG committees, as well as many PCC committees, task forces and working groups.
