ABOUT STEVE LAMB

I\'ve been working in IT for over 35 years.I started as a trainee programmer at Abbey Life Assurance in Bournemouth in the summer of 1988. I moved to Bournemouth where I attended their in-house training course learning Cobol II running on an MVS/XA mainframe. After approximately 9 months, I left the course and moved back to Essex where I found myself a job as a \"computer programmer\" writing Cobol programs at Alcatel Business Systems in Romford.At Alcatel, I progressed through the ranks of Analyst Programmer and finally Project Leader, where I managed a team of 4 people. I remained at Alcatel until November 1993 when I then joined Neopost Limited.At Neopost I continued my role as a Project Leader which was to become my final \"permanent\" position as I left in October 1996 to turn my attention to my new venture, Slamsoft Computing Limited.After 2 relatively short contracts at Honda UK and Royal London Mutual Insurance, I have been involved in the Investment Banking sector ever since, having worked for-* ABN Amro (key skills used- AS400, Cobol)* West LB (key skills used- AS400, Cobol, Sybase, Visual Basic, Perl, Unix)* Credit Suisse (key skills used- Visual Basic, Sybase, Perl, Unix)* Lehman Brothers (key skills used- Java, JSP, Javascript, Visual Basic, Sybase, Unix, Linux, Perl)* Lehman Brothers in Administration (key skills used- Java, JSP, Javascript, Hibernate, Spring, Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, Microsoft ASP.Net, Microsoft C#, Microsoft SQL Server).* JP Morgan Chase (key skills used- Java, Oracle, JSP, Javascript, Unix scripting, SQL.Net)* Barclays Capital (key skills used- Java, Oracle, Spring, Linux scripting)Specialties: Although I have worked for several years working as a project leader managing a team of developers, I am happiest meeting users, gathering information and turning their requirements into software that is used to meet the purpose it was intended for.
