About Skyler Myers

My educational background is in economics and business but my career mainly started off being self taught in coding, and ultimately deciding to specialize in data engineering with Scala, Spark, and Databricks (after researching market trends and trajectories in the industry). I first got my hands on Databricks around 2019, right before Delta Lake was a thing. I\'ve spent my career trying to master the platform and the surrounding tech stack, and since have become a Databricks MVP and Solutions Architect Champion. I try to bring a unique element from the tech world coming from a business/humanities upbringing and learning all tech skills from trial and error rather than official coursework. As my career has progressed, I\'ve gone from focussing on engineering and performance tuning to overall data design and architectures, and more recently I\'ve been getting heavily involved with operations (trying to unify the business mindset with tech skillset).

   I currently lead technical delivery for our clients from both an actual project-based completion perspective and architecture design and planning perspective. I maintain a strong presence delivering project goals for our top accounts and help shape the outcomes of others by influencing staffing and hiring decisions.Some hands-on delivery accomplishments to note is leading and project planning for enterprise size data migrations from dozens of disparate source systems and petabytes of data into Databricks for billion dollar organizations, building Greenfield Databricks builds from scratch, including the full data modeling and design, using infrastructure as code and other best practices. I\'ve also worked on niche products that require an expert eye when it comes to Spark and Databricks optimizations in order to ingest hundreds of billions of rows inside of tight SLAs.Besides delivery, I\'ve built a Databricks-reviewed and approved Brickbuilder accelerator for data quality on the platform. I also help shape the company\'s policies with organization design documents, such as technical hiring guidelines and criteria. I also co-lead our technical pre-sales, and have helped land dozens of 6-7 figure contracts this year, some that I\'m personally on, and others that I assist in resourcing and overseeing, sometimes stepping in when there is a necessary technical challenge.
