About Stephen Hopkins
Stephen Hopkins launched Shield in 2014, bringing his unique blend of business and design experience to innovate the furniture industry. Since launching, Shield has garnered numerous international design awards, from Red Dot to IDA Gold Medals. An intensely creative leader with an eye for detail and an ear for communication, Stephen ran an award-winning product design studio and worked for several international architecture firms prior to starting Shield. His entrepreneurial spirit drives innovation for his company and, more importantly, his clients. Whether guiding his team or working with clients from MD Anderson to the Los Angeles Clippers, Stephen is an engaging and dynamic source of ideas and inspiration. Stephen holds an MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and an architectural degree from the University of Kansas. He is AIA, NCARB, IDSA, and LEED AP BD+C accredited. His speaking experience includes the American Institute of Architects; the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators; the Association of Luxury Suite Directors; and the Sports Business Journal. His industry-leading thinking has also been featured in Fast Company and Becker’s Hospital Review.
