ABOUT S. KARAR HUSAIN

With over 11 years of work experience in the development sector, I am a passionate and committed program manager who leads the holistic development programme of Aga Khan Foundation in Uttar Pradesh, India. My core competencies include early childhood development, education, adolescent education and health, agriculture and natural resource management, and water, sanitation and hygiene. I believe in empowering communities, especially women and girls, to achieve their full potential and improve their quality of life. I am driven by the mission and values of Aga Khan Foundation, and I strive to bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team.As a program manager, I am responsible for leading a portfolio of around 8 crore per annum, managing a team of 4 project coordinators and one civil engineer directly and a team of 52 people indirectly, and ensuring annual, quarterly, and monthly programmatic and financial plannings. I also liaise with different departments at state and district level for smooth implementation of the programme, and coordinate with donors for programmatic and financial reporting and to ensure their engagement in the programme. Some of the skills that I use and develop in this role are mentoring, presentations, communication, and data management. I also have a post graduate diploma in development leadership from Azim Premji University and a MA in elementary education from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, which enhance my knowledge and understanding of the development sector.
