ABOUT SHERYL RINDEL

Bachelors Degree in Human Development Family Studies; Minor in Substance Abuse Studies,Texas Tech University; Masters degree in Counselor Education, University of North Texas, Licensed Professional Counselor, Oregon & Texas; National Certified Counselor; Completed 30 hours graduate course work in Clinical Supervision, Portland State University, Qualified to supervise registered L.P.C. Interns.Currently I am a Mental Health Specialist (School Based) for the Health & Human Services Department Family & Youth Programs of Yamhill County. It is a privilege to serve as a full time therapist with the Yamhill Carlton School District (K-12) serving youth and families!Previously, I served as Clinical Program Manager for the TransActive Gender Center serving gender nonconforming and transgender youth and their families. Prior to TransActive, I served for 8 years as the Director/Clinical Supervisor of the Family Violence Intervention Program in WC, OR. Each year, more survivors receive services through the Domestic Violence Resource Center. All services are free of charge and provided in both Spanish and English. I see myself in the role of advocate “walking side by side with a person in order to validate and empower them to be exactly who they are.” I strongly believe in supporting a persons right to self-determination. In advocating for survivors of domestic violence this includes ending the cycle of violence, building self-esteem and helping survivors understand what’s happened and to take steps to feel better and empowered to make healthy, safe choices.
